Ep#11 Daily Tech Show: Multi-Cloud with the DiscoPosse
“The reason you do it, isn’t the reason you think you do it” & “You keep saying that word but it doesn’t mean the thing you think it means” – Eric Wright
We are speaking with public cloud leaders and experts this week around multi-cloud. What are their thoughts? Is it worth implementing a multi-cloud solution? I’ve asked leading experts on why they would use multi-cloud and here’s what some of them had to say In the previous episodes I’ve used google’s definition on multi-cloud. But I’d like to define it myself and say enterprises are utilizing multiple public cloud providers and their services. Personally, I don’t think multi-cloud is a good idea but there are reasons on why you would utilize different cloud providers.
Example: using AWS for their Machine Learning capabilities but hosting their Exchange servers environment in Azure. Or maybe they acquired a company that was utilizing another cloud provider and now they need to integrate with it. Don’t select multiple cloud providers to save on cost or vendor lock because in the end, you’ll be paying a lot more to support the environment, or use its services.
